ANNUAL MEETING APRIL 22,2017 The Annual Meeting for the Town of Cedar Lake was held on Saturday, April 22,2017 at 10 AM at the Cedar Lake Town Hall in Mikana. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting is being chaired by the incoming chairman, Ken Leners, who then introduced the other Board members as Kory Weiss & Tony Wolff, Supervisors, Maryhelen Drew, Clerk and Gladys Roux, Treasurer. Ken than asked how many people were attending for the first time. There were about 8 — 10 hands showing. Total persons attending was 37. Ken then introduced Brock Geyen, from Clifton, Larson, Allen CPA who would be discussing the financial report from 2016. Ken then proceeded to explain the highlights of the Birchwood Four Corners Emergency Services Dist.(BFCESD). The Board has voted to give a proposal on a land purchase in the Village of Birchwood for the new fire hall. It is a 3.3-acre lot with a storage building on it at this time as well as a mobile home. The offered has gone in at $57000. Explained that a new fire truck has been ordered. Mike Mattmiller asked if this would help the fire class for insurance rates. It was explained that the fire hydrant is what considers the fire class for insurance. John Bolles asked if a new representative had been chosen for the Birchwood Four Corners Emergency Services Dist. (BFCESD)? This will be on the agenda on May 8“. There have been a few volunteers for that position. This will be a Board decision. The only person available from the Police Commission was DeWayne Bothum. No report. Ken then asked if there was discussion from the floor. Tom Lapacinski spoke to the grader use in the Town on the gravel roads, feels it could be used better than the truck to grade the
roads. Mike Gallo spoke saying that he had been around all gravel roads in 2 days. John Bolles asked who would be working with the road guys? Kory has been chosen to work with the road guys. Tony then spoke to the development of a better website for the Town. Hopefully making it more user friendly. Tony will try to have the minute on the website as a PDF. For instance, the information about road bans would posted there. Road bans will come off on April 28th,2017. The next item discussed was the Mikana Dam. At this point, Kory will follow up with Washburn Co. in regard to the dam in Birchwood. That dam is being worked on at this time, hopefully completed by opening fishing. Louie Okey, Town’s County Supervisor, mentioned that the monitor on the Mikana Dam has not happened and doesn’t look good for the future from the County. The County feels that Mike and Tyler can monitor the water level better. At this time, Mike checks in AM and PM daily. Much discussion. The white goods pickup is scheduled for June 17th, 2017 at the Town Shop. Will need to get times. Mike Mattmiller asked if the Police Dept. covers the same as the fire and ambulance. At this time, the Police Dept. covers only Cedar Lake. This is something that will be looked into in the future. Information will be gathered and facts will be presented. This will be put on the agenda at the appropriate time after appropriate info gathering. Next question was in regard to the tree massacre from Carol Addington. Mike explained that the Town needed to reclaim the Town right of way for liability reasons. Cleaning will occur as possible. John Bolles made the motion to adjourn. Dick Ballou
seconded and all approved.
