Budget Work Meeting Minutes I October 19, 2022
The budget work meeting for FY23 was held on Wed., Oct. 19, 2022 at the Cedar Lake Town Hall in Mikana at 9 AM. Present was Ken Leners, Chairman, Supervisors Tony Wolff and Kory Weiss. Clerk, Maryhelen Drew,
Treasurer, Gladys Roux. Tom Nanstad and Gary Garbe, Ken and Mary Hele were attending to ask that the town board consider putting in the budget $10000 for fireworks as they are not funded completely by a private person any longer. It would cost $15000 for full fireworks. Tony wondered if anyone had done fundraising for the fireworks. The word needs to get out that there are limited funds available for the fireworks. At this point, the paraded committee donates all monies received from the proceeds of the parade to various charities in the area. The fireworks have always been separate from the parade but they have been working on some fundraising the past two years. The board will take their request into consideration.
Next the Board had a zoom meeting with Brock from CLA regarding the levy limit and how to position the loans and debt for the BFCESD. We do need to draw down the ARPA account and disburse all funds.
Next Tony talked about salaries of the upcoming elected officials, as well as hiring a deputy clerk.
The work on the budget continued.
Ken made a motion to adjourn the budget work meeting at 12:20 with Tony secondeing and all approved.
This meeting was noticed in the Chronotype, website, town hall, The Grill, Mikana Store and Bear Trap, notice to LLBC.
