Town Meeting Minutes January 8, 2018
January 8,2018 MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting for the Town of Cedar Lake was held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Cedar Lake Town Hall in Mikana. Present were Ken Leners, Chairman, Kory Weiss and Tony Wolff, Supervisors, Maryhelen Drew, Clerk and Gladys Roux, Treasurer. There were 29 people present. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes from the previous monthly meeting were read. These were approved as read by Kory, seconded by Tony and approved by all. Under public input, Ron Richlick asked whose attorney the Board had talked with in regard to the referendum question. Ken explained that the Town has an attorney on retainer in Rice Lake, as well as the attorneys who are available all times with the Wisconsin Towns Assn. Ken then read the email from Rick Manthe regarding voting. This will also be posted on the Town’s website. Ron Richlick was removed from the meeting due to improper meeting decorum. Ken noticed in the most recent Town’s Assn. Magazine that the policy for investing has been changed to more than 3yr. Next item on the agenda are the financial reports from Gladys, Treasurer and Maryhelen, Clerk. Both are balanced with each other as well as all bank accounts. Ken stated that there are no invoices being carried over into 2018. He then discussed monies received to be able to pay those invoices. Mike Gallo then gave the road report for the month. We have had severe cold, nuisance snow, signs down and trees to clean up. Tony asked about the plan to burn the brush pile in the pit. It needs to get pushed back and we may need to get a dozer to do this. Tony then asked if Paul’s Sheet Metal had been to the Town Hall and the police building to check the heaters. Will need to contact them to get this completed. RJ Severude then gave the police report for 2 months as he had been absent the previous month. The storage units had been broken into, so secured those, people notified, all inventory untouched. Had some drug related calls, a death call, motorist assists, suicide calls, stranded vehicles, ambulance assist calls. He has also been training with K-9 a well as with the TRACS system. The Board will decide at what time there will be a meeting to discuss the outcome of the referendum on Feb. 20, 2018. At the March 12th monthly meeting, the Board will discuss the decision. The Birchwood Four Corners Emergency Services will be meeting this Thursday. Ken is working on the service award program for the fire fighters as well as EMT’s with Don Bergstrom aka Bumper and Ken George. Will submit the checks appropriately. Under old business, Ken has received a response from WisDOT regarding the crossing of the bridge on Hwy. 48 in Mikana. Ken will be attending the Barron Co. Board of Supervisors meeting on Feb. 19th at 9 AM. The county hwy. dept. meets on Feb. 1. Ken may start with Jeff French as well as Mark Servi, Highway Commissioner. The Board members will attend the District WTA meeting in Cumberland on March 10th. Tony and Ken have set the Town Hall up with WIFI. This will be great for training sessions as well as monthly meetings. Correspondence received during the month was gone thru. It was mentioned that the State convention for WTS is scheduled for Oct. 14-16. Might be something to consider attending. Ken will be implementing new time cards to go over with RJ, Mike and Scott.
