Monthly Meeting Minutes Feb 8, 2016

MONTHLY MEETING FEBRUARY 8, 2016 The monthly meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Cedar Lake met at the Cedar Lake Town Hall on Monday, Feb. 8‘“, 2016 at 6:30 PM. Present was Jon Sleik, Chairman, Duke Dahl & Kory Weiss, Supervisors, Maryhelen Drew, Clerk and Gladys Roux, Treasurer. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance. There were seven persons other than the Board attending. The minutes were read from the previous monthly meeting. Duke said that in reference to the Woods Ditch Bank Mower, there is a place in Michigan which would be cheaper if we are able to get transportation. Jon also corrected that Mike had done the rating on the roads and bridges for the State, not done by the State. With these corrections, the minutes were approved by Duke and seconded by Kory. Jon apologized that a decision could not be made this month regarding a request for a donation to the Barron County Poverty Inst. This will be on the agenda for March. Gladys mentioned that she had been contacted by Dick Ballou in re4gard to receiving funds from the State for the Buckthorn Project. Those funds have not yet been received. Kory than mentioned that it had been brought to his attention that there are many signs around the Township stating “NO ATV’S”. Jon said that he had ordered 12 in May and had them posted. There followed a discussion regarding the placement. There have been no new signs by Cedar Lake since Aug. Maybe re-visiting the sign Posting after the referendum in April.
Also, under public input, we have finally received guidelines from the USPS in regard to mailbox placement. The next item on the agenda were the financial statement from Gladys, Treasurer and Maryhelen, Clerk. Both are balanced with all banks as well as each other. Kory inquired about the Police Account at Brill. It was explained that those funds came from donations received from people. Ron Richlick and Del Schmidt are in charge of this as a canine fund. The Police Commission group, as well as Ron & Del decide, what gets paid from this account. The report of last month’s road activities include snowplowing, maintenance, and repair of fire hall heater. There followed a discussion of creating records regarding maintenance of all items so there is continuation between officers and workers. Ken suggested maybe hiring an intern for the summer to record important records. It is noted that the pay day policy is changing for 2016. Timecards will be turned in on Monday with checks being delivered on Thursday. Mike discussed the snowplowing on the Swamp Road saying that it had to be plowed out to 2 1/2 car widths. Rice Lake Snow Club complimented Mike for the trimming done on the Swamp Rd. Jon said that all roads in our town were completely plowed within 25 hours of the last 10 in. snow storm. The next items on the agenda are the reports from the Police and the BFCESD. As neither committee had any reports at this time, the Board addressed old business.
All town chairmen, Doyle, Cedar Lake and Oak Grove met and had discussions regarding the repair of the backhoe which Cedar Lake had completed. All understand the importance of working together. All Chair persons are happy with the three towns working together informally. Under new business, the dates for the Board of Review are as follows: Open Book will be held on May 14th from 9-noon while the Board of Review will be held on May 21“, 2016 from 10 — noon. Jon made the motion to accept these times. Duke seconded and all approved. The next order of business was to look at and approve all claims which were submitted. Duke made the motion to pay these claims as submitted and adjourn the meeting. This was seconded by Kory and all approved. (7:40pm)
